Monteo is currently involved in the WISER Survivor (Women in Breast Cancer Research) study for breast cancer survivors. The study takes place at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.
This research study is to test the effects of lymphedema care, exercise and/or weight loss on:
1) Risk factors for breast cancer recurrence
2) Lymphedema
3) Quality of life
ALL Wiser Survivor participants receive:
1) two custom fitted compression garments
2) Access to a lymphedema specialist (Monteo Myers, or Stacy Blaine)
Participants will randomly be placed in 1 of 4 groups for 1 year.
1) Lymphedema care only
2) Lymphedema care & Exercise
3) Lymphedema care & Weight loss
4) Lymphedema care, Exercise & Weight loss combined
